English Language Studies
Australia is proud of the reputation and quality of its English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) courses. The National English Language Teaching Accreditation Scheme (NEAS) works to maintain the high standard of Australia’s ELICOS courses.
The advantage of taking an English language course in Australia is that you have endless opportunities to practise speaking, reading and writing English. Students coming to Australia on a student visa to study English language courses (ELICOS) are required to study full-time.
English language proficiency tests
There are a number of tests in Australia designed to assess the English language ability of international students wishing to gain entry to courses in Australia. The main ones are the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Cambridge English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and the Occupational English Test (OET).
Many Australian universities offer English language programs through a dedicated English language centre. You can find out more about the English language courses on offer by making an enquiry to the institutions.
